Projects

What you need to know

Cornwall Marine Network has received a number of grants and is currently delivering the following SPF-funded projects below.

Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF)

The Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) enables further education (FE) providers across a geographic area to respond collectively to the priorities in the LSIPs, led by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). From marine to manufacturing, agriculture to retail, CMN is committed to providing innovative training and solutions to meet the evolving needs of businesses within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

SPF Coordinated People Hub (SPF)

Hiring apprentices promotes a culture of continuous learning and development within the organisation. This can lead to a more knowledgeable and adaptable workforce.

SPF Digital Futures

Cornwall has the fastest growing tech sector in the south-west. This is creating an increasing demand for digital skills which cannot currently be met locally. Through its involvement in the Digital Futures project, Cornwall Marine Network seeks to harness that growth and convert it into economic opportunity for the region by developing a pipeline of talent and a workforce equipped for the future.

SPF Multiply

Devon Multiply is funded by the UK government and is part of the Skills for Life campaign. The programme works with organisations across Devon to provide free numeracy courses from April 2022 to March 2025. Numeracy and maths courses can help your staff to build confidence and improve their ability to understand and use maths in daily life, at home, and at work.

SPF The Future is Green

With a clear focus on championing green occupations, this project offers businesses, individuals and SMEs diverse career pathways for skill development and career progression from entry-level positions to advanced roles. The project aims to break down barriers, empowering both individuals and businesses alike to embrace sustainable practices and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. This project is particularly vital for the marine sector, fostering a sustainable marine industry by equipping workers with the necessary green skills. It supports the shift towards eco-friendly practices, reducing environmental impacts, and promoting the conservation of marine ecosystems. This initiative will ultimately ensure the industry’s resilience and alignment with global sustainability goals.
